Art is how I make sense of the world around me and discover who I am. It gives me a platform to externalize the thoughts, emotions, and contradictions in my head. My work explores themes of culture, identity, self-perception, life, and memory, drawing from deeply personal perspectives rooted in self-exploration and storytelling. It is a journey for me to find out who I am at my core. Through my work, I revisit cultural and personal histories, weaving together fragments of memory and emotion. I find inspiration in memories and life experiences. I work primarily in oil because it is patient and forgiving.
I also want to use art as a narrative for bringing my experiences as a South Indian and reconnecting with my South Indian heritage which I learning to embrace now that I am so far from home. Distance has given me a new perspective, making me more aware of what I once took for granted and more intentional in my efforts to reconnect. I want to bring my experiences as a South Indian into focus, using them as a means to embrace and reinterpret my heritage on my own terms.
At its core, my work is a continuous search for an answer to the question: Who am I?
